My Before and “After” Pictures. Really.

Friday, June 25th, 2010

I told you there were before pictures.

Last Saturday was the very last day of my 12 week challenge.  Jared and I woke up early and I did my very last cardio workout (not, like, forever – but for this program.)  I was pretty freaking proud of that considering this was our first morning on vacation and it would have been really, really easy to just say “close enough!”, which is what I usually do.

We ran the last 2 minutes home in the rain, and took my “after” pictures as soon as we got in the door.

Well, as soon as we got in the door and I took off my pants.

Yeah, I’m standing in the entryway in my underwear.  It obvious covers up more than that swimsuit, which I will probably now be burning in order to rid myself of the trauma of these before pictures.

My favorite part of this after picture is my tan in a can skin.  I decided to resist the urge to bake myself in a tanning bed, what with my quitting smoking in order to prevent cancer and all.  Instead, I’ve been lathering up with sunless tanners.  (Because the cold hard truth is, tan fat looks better than white fat.)

Next up – the rear view.

*deeeeep breath everyone, this is going to get bumpy.*

I don’t know why these pictures are so crappy.  Oh, wait, yes I do.  Jared cannot take a good picture to save his life.  Also, all of my resizing efforts on Photoshop this morning are sucking butt.  But you get the idea.

And finally…

OK, yes, I still have a pooch.  But I’m pretty sure it’s a smaller pooch.  Also, I may need to start stuffing my bra. (Do the kids still do that?)

I am really proud of myself.  I stuck with a really tough goal for three months, and I made some pretty significant changes in my body and health.

And I’m not done yet.  From now on, I’ll be talking about it over here.

  1. avitable says:

So proud of you. You look amazing!

I do love how you went with the “no smile” and “smile” for the before and after photos, too!

  2. You seriously look AMAZING. A-MA-ZING!

Congrats to you! I can’t even stick with the Couch 2 5K program and I feel guilt every day.

    • Miss Britt says:

@samantha Jo Campen, I’ve heard good things about that program, but I’m not a big fan of running. I’m not sure I could do that either.

  3. I am so proud of you Britt! How come you didn’t post pictures of Jared’s before and after? Why should you be the only one to expose yourself on the internetz?? hehe

Seriously though, awesome job. Wish I could get Misk and I motivated enough to do that. Oh yeah, and he’s got a bad foot, so I can imagine it would be harder, eh?

    • Miss Britt says:

@Cissa Fireheart, he actually hasn’t taken after pictures yet – and I’m not so sure he’d like me putting up his before pictures without permission. LOL

  4. britt says:

Your “before” pics can be my “after” pics, mmmmkay?
    Also, your name is awesome.

  5. Jenny Talia says:

    Wow! Well done to YOU!
That’s an awesome difference in 12 weeks – plus the tan too!
You’ve given me hope. I’m 5 weeks into daily exercise & calorie counting – and I’m not feeling any changes yet
I don’t think I’ll ever have the balls to post my before shot though
Unless I wake up skinny one day – then lookout!
    Congrats x

  6. corrin says:

You look phenomenal! You can really tell a difference. Especially in your demeanor. Hello HAPPY!

  7. muskrat says:

    keep up the good work!

  8. muskrat says:

good work…keep it up! am excited for you.

  9. Finn says:

Are those abs I see? Yes they are!

You look great; you did really well. I can really see it in your face and midsection.

  10. TUWABVB says:

You look AMAZING! I am so proud of you. I’ve been impressed by your efforts while reading Twitter – but good Lord, the product of your hard work shows so much effort! Congratulations! I’m really inspired.

    • Miss Britt says:

@TUWABVB, thank you very much, and I appreciate you being inspired instead of annoyed by my constant “I’M AT THE GYM!” twittering.

  11. Angella says:

Way to go, Britt!!! You look AMAZING, girlfriend.

  12. Dawn says:

    Good going!
    No. Wait. That’s wrong.
    GREAT for you!!!

PS. I also get my tan unnaturally. And I’m damn proud of my cancer-free (now brown) skin.

  13. Chibi Jeebs says:

    *wolf whistle* How YOU doinnnnn?

You look phenomenal! Excellent job! :)

  14. Sheila says:

    Dang, Miss MILF…..

one of these days I’m going to carve out some time in my day to get with the program.

Because dayum, girl…youz a sexxy bitch.

    • Miss Britt says:

@Sheila, thank you. I know the time thing can be a bitch. I definitely had to let some other things go in order to make time for working out.

  15. Lisa says:

Look at those abs!! You look fantastic! I’m so proud of you. Not only did you stick with the 12 weeks, but you quit smoking right in the middle of it. You really deserve a huge pat on the back.

Also? Could you give me remedial fake-n-bake lessons? I kinda suck. Really bad.

  16. [...] story short – I completed the 12 week challenge.  I lost a little less than 10% of my bodyweight, which was my goal for the three months.  But [...]

  17. Mandi Bone says:

You look great. Great job finishing the project.

    • Miss Britt says:

@Mandi Bone, thank you. And you even ate lunch with us in the middle of all this – and we must not have seemed too strange!

      • Mandi Bone says:

        @Miss Britt,
That lunch was the second greatest thing to happen to me on that trip.It would have been the greatest except we got asked to be parents again as we were boarding our flight home. I may have drove my husband crazy about meeting you and Maria.

  18. Renee says:

    You look great!

  19. LOOKIT YOU hot stuff!

    and I’m totally jealous.

    • Miss Britt says:

@Angie [A Whole Lot of Nothing], if you ever want to borrow my book, just say the word. I’m looking for an excuse to drive to AP anyway. ;-)

  20. Oh my god–you look amazing! I have been hanging on to 30lbs of baby weight for the last year and wish I looked as good as you! What an inspiration! This is my first time here, so I need to go back to see you go through the 12week process…

Yay! Congratulations on all of your hard work :)

    • Miss Britt says:

@Lori @ I Can Grow People, I don’t think I talked much about it through the process. Talking about working out is weird for me; I’m always afraid it will be annoying.

      But thank you. :-)

  21. WOW! You look great!!! Congrats!

  22. Nanna says:

    Good for you, babe!

  23. agirlandaboy says:

That’s awesome! YOU are awesome! You LOOK awesome! (And you’re right about the tanning; I should do that one of these days…)

  24. You look fabulous! Between you and Karen I have been inspired to get off my LAZY ASS. Way to go Brit!

  25. Lisa says:

You have a lot to be proud of. You look fantastic.

  26. NaysWay says:

That’s right. Give me some motivation. I definitely need it.

  27. Lynda says:

For bras, you might just be wearing the wrong one.

    http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/story?section=view_from_the_bay/fashion_beauty&id=7450528

You look great. I’m having a hard time getting my ab region to look like yours.

    • Miss Britt says:

@Lynda, they say belly fat is the last to go – because OF COURSE IT IS, right?

      • Lynda says:

@Miss Britt, Well, I have a little bit of a flap. Seriously, I can tuck it into my jeans…. I think the fat part is ok, it is the toning. But I heard toning that area is hard too.

  28. Sybil Law says:

    You look fantastic! Congratulations!!

  29. Reaching a goal is just about the coolest thing a person can do, in my opinion. Follow through is so so so so hard. Well done, my friend. You look great!

(And I’m laughing at what Avitable said, I was thinking the same exact thing.) ;p

  30. Hockeymandad says:

Wow Britt, you look great! I’m proud of you!

    • Miss Britt says:

@Hockeymandad, thanks! Now we have to race.

(Only a very short distance though.)

      • Hockeymandad says:

@Miss Britt, Oh Britt, your ambition is adorable. But I would totally kick your ass in a sprint. No, this is not a challenge. I just know what I am really good at, and my years of baseball/softball/soccer would serve me well. It was my bread and butter in the first two. So we could race, but I would win.

  31. mare says:

    1) Don’t stuff your bra – your bust looks amazing in the after

    2) Yes, I am straight but this alone makes me want to take the same challenge you did!

  32. Kathy says:

Wow! Amazing changes! Did you mention how much weight you lost?

I’m in the process of loosing weight (from 193 in December to 175 this morning!) but it’s taking a while!!

    • Miss Britt says:

@Kathy, wow – that is amazing!!! I only lost about 11 pounds. I’ve read you should look at it in terms of percentage of body weight lost, since everyone’s weight can be so different it can be hard to set realistic goals based on just numbers.

  33. Jen, Now in AZ says:

Ok, not sure how to say this. So, I am just going to come out with it. I never thought of you as heavy as your before pics. You hid it very well.

But congrats on reaching where you are now. You look GORGEOUS!

  34. Bre says:

This is awesome, Britt! You do look great and I’ll recall your stick-to-it-ness when I want to get back into shape in the months after Jude is born. I *hate* exercise and self-discipline in that arena… Congrats lady!

  35. BusyDad says:

Way to kick ass! Watch out, I can totally see some diet pill company stealing that first and putting it on their internet ads. You got the depressed slump and the “look at me now!” pose down perfect on it.

  36. Maria says:

Britt, I am so impressed. That is NOT an easy workout routine. Also, running two miles sounds terrifying.

    You look hot.

  37. Coma Girl says:

I am impressed with your results and impressed you posted a picture of yourself in your skives.

    You look great!

  38. Average Jane says:

Way to go! I currently look just like your “before” picture and you’re definitely inspiring me to get off my butt and do something about it.

  39. Jay says:

You freaking rock! You should be very proud. I’m kind of inspired, and I’m pretty much uninspirable.

  40. Maritza says:

You look STRONG! I just started reading your blog and thanks to you, I have not smoked today and hopefully not tomorrow. Thanks!

  41. Faiqa says:

    1. You look great.
    2. I cannot believe the entire Internet got to see you in your underwear at the same time I did. I mean, Jeee-zus, Britt, I thought we were better friends than this.
    3. Why do you think you’re so much better than everyone else?

    Hehehehe…

  42. racheal says:

You should be so so proud of yourself….yay!! :) This might be stupid to note, but it isn’t always what’s outside that matters. You were beautiful to begin with and you still are, no matter your size. That being said, holy hotness!

Also, that miraculous bra from victoria secret? That shit is AH-MA-ZING!! Instant lift and *big* boost, this coming from the kid that swears by padded bras and has probably tried every kind. The only downside, they cost $58 a pop, the good thing is, it’s their semi annual sale!
    :)

    • Miss Britt says:

@racheal, it’s not stupid to note. I think it’s always important to remember. At the end of the day, there’s still only so much we can control about our outward appearance, right?

  43. Jared says:

I am so proud of you! These pics look great, however you are even hotter in person.

  44. Shelley says:

I am SO freaking happy for you! :) Congrats. You really look great!

  45. Jamie says:

Wow. You look awesome. That is such an accomplishment. You’ve obviously made real changes — all for the better — in your lifestyle. And as for stuffing your bra, I just got one from VS that has everyone asking me if I got a boob job. Don’t know if that’s good or bad, but it does some major lifting and puffing up …You look great. Keep going.

  46. Sunny says:

    Congratulations! What a difference :D

  47. Nenette says:

You look fabulous, Britt!!! Gorgeous! Totally inspiring!

And you have nice underwear. :)

  48. you look absolutely inspiring. I just started the c25k running thing and this really motivates me. Way to go Britt!

  49. holy hotness! you look fabulous!

  50. DawnV says:

Congrats and well done Britt! I commend you for committing to this 3 month program (not to mention the quitting smoking part you mentioned! Rock on!!)
You can DEF see major body changes. Kudos to you!!

  51. Oh my fuck, I am crazy impressed with you. So proud of you for sticking with it. And BLAM, you can totally see a difference. Yay, you!!!

  52. MariaV says:

    Congratulations, Britt. You look fabulous.

  53. Jenn says:

Great work! You look amazing and I am so super proud of you. THAT is what I need. A group, friends, blogging…someone/something to get my lazy, fat ass off the couch and into some regular exercise. NOW.

Maybe if the outside looked better, the inside would feel better. (Think I can lose about 50 lbs before BlogHer? lol) Either way, I am super proud of you for your amazing lifestyle changes!!!!

I want to be you! Right now. ;-)

  54. Rachael says:

WOW! You should feel proud of yourself. I think you may have just inspired me!

  55. Maritza says:

I’m subscribed to a couple of smoking cessation websites. I’ve been doing fine up until tonight. I know it’s temporary and the craving will pass, I just have to breathe deeply and not get dressed to go to the store. Thanks!

  56. Annah says:

Oh my God this is SOOOOOO awesome! You are such an inspiration. I’m doing my own little weight loss challenge… let’s see what comes of it. CONGRATULATIONS you look lovely

  57. Zoeyjane says:

Did you notice how much more awesome your posture’s gotten, too? Congrats, lady!

  58. Jamie says:

Britt ~ It’s the Miraculous Push Up. They use adjectives like the ultimate lift and level 5. They claim it adds up to 2 cup sizes — so be prepared. Since I wrote that comment, my sister-in-law asked me what bra I was wearing…

  59. martymankins says:

    Wow. Very awesome.

  60. Rachel says:

This is AWESOME! I don’t even know you and I’m so psyched for you! You look AMAZING! Congrats on all of your hard work paying off!

  61. Go Britt, Go!
    GO!
    You look awesome!

  62. Tonz says:

Awesome!!! You look incredible!!! And look at your abs….fantastic!!!!
Congratulations and well done on sticking with it…you should be so proud of yourself!!!

  63. Steph says:

WOW, WOW, WOW!! YOU LOOK EFFING HOT!! Awesome!!!
